NFL Free Agency Has Started (meaning so has the madness)

For those of you who do not know, I am a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. However, it has become increasingly difficult to enjoy the product that Ralph Wilson has put on the field over the last decade. Because of this, the off season has become more interesting since every year, hope exists the Bills can make the right combination of free agent, draft, and coaching moves.

Free agency began today at 12:01 AM meaning that anyone not under contract or "franchised" by his team is free to negotiate with any other team in the league. Each year the price for free agents keeps going up and every year a team jettisons poor free agent choices. This year it was Jacksonville and Oakland cutting ties with over-priced, underachieving players.

There are three noteworthy stories that I feel compelled to comment on:

Albert Haynesworth
A $100 million deal for a defensive tackle who has never played a full season and not made more than 2 Pro Bowls. I expect nothing less from Daniel Snyder who is probably still paying Hugh Douglas a portion of his signing bonus.

Fred Taylor
The headline here says it all. The Bills have put themselves in this position where we will have to offer at least twice as much as a winning team would to land a worthwhile free agent. Buffalo is just not attractive to players, especially players who are looking for one last attempt at a Super Bowl championship.

SAGE....ROSENFELS

Last year Sage single-handedly lost the Colts game for the Texans and played pretty bad in several others and he gets a $9 million extension. There is no way that I could negotiate a worse deal than that. Give me a job in the football world negotiating deals like this. Please.
